A Chesterfield business is bringing the community together for a day dedicated to giving back.

Ambassador Mid-West Floor will host its Experience More: Community Giveback Day on Saturday, August 8, at its Chesterfield showroom. The family-friendly event will support several important causes throughout the St. Louis area.

Activities will include free rugs for teachers, opportunities to meet adoptable pets and additional ways to support local children and families. The event reflects the family-owned company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the community through service and local partnerships.

The event will take place at Ambassador Mid-West Floor, 17770 Chesterfield Airport Road in Chesterfield.

Something magical is happening in the gardens at St. Louis County Parks and Recreation: monarch butterflies are beginning their migration, and more of these beautiful visitors are fluttering through our parks.

One handsome male monarch recently stopped for a snack on Liatris aspera, also known as rough blazing star, in our children’s garden nursery.

The plant has quite a story of its own. It was transplanted from the native planting at Greensfelder Recreation Complex, protected through the winter under cloth, and planted this spring. Now, it has become a thriving butterfly buffet.

Moments like these are a wonderful reminder of how important it is to support local ecosystems and provide habitat for monarch butterflies, whose populations continue to face serious challenges. 🦋♥️

Great Rivers Greenway and the Saint Louis Zoo are teaming up for the fifth annual Greenway Quest Scavenger Hunt.

Hundreds of hand-painted rocks representing four species of native bees have been hidden along more than 140 miles of paved greenway trails throughout St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County. It’s a free and family-friendly way to explore the outdoors while learning more about local pollinators.

Before beginning your quest, visit the Saint Louis Zoo website for bee identification guides and educational resources. Learning about the important role bees and other pollinators play is a great first step toward helping conservation organizations protect these vital insects.
