โ๏ธ New UMSL-Boeing Internship Program Turns Hands-On Experience Into Full-Time Jobs ๐โจ

Courtesy: UMSL Daily
A new partnership between the University of MissouriโSt. Louis and Boeing is giving local college students a direct path from the classroom to careers in the aerospace industry.
This summer, four students from UMSLโs Ed G. Smith College of Business โ Mary Elliott, Malik Bowman, Myka Radford and Sedny Sorm โ became the inaugural class of a first-of-its-kind procurement internship with Boeing Defense, Space & Security, which is headquartered in St. Louis.
Instead of simply observing, the students completed Boeingโs eight-week training program alongside newly hired employees and worked on real procurement responsibilities. They later continued working part-time during the school year, gaining experience researching parts, gathering supplier quotes, negotiating contracts and tracking deliveries.
The experience has already paid off: all four students have accepted full-time positions as Boeing procurement agents after graduation. Bowman and Radford are expected to transition to full-time roles after graduating in December, while Elliott and Sorm will follow after graduating in May.
UMSL is currently the only university where Boeingโs defense business has established this type of procurement program, and recruitment is already underway for next summerโs group. UMSL and Boeing plan to make the internship an annual opportunity.
For St. Louis-area students, the partnership offers a powerful example of how hands-on learning can turn into a career before graduation day even arrives. ๐๐
