🏡 What's Next for Pacland Crest? Chesterfield Reviews 13.6-Acre Zoning Proposal

A proposed zoning change near Kehrs Mill Road is drawing attention to the future of a 13.6-acre property in Chesterfield.

Claymont Development, LLC has submitted a request known as Pacland Crest, seeking to change the property's zoning from "NU" Non-Urban District to "E-2AC" Estate District.

The land is located west of Kehrs Mill Road and south of Pacland Place.

The request was the subject of a public hearing at the Chesterfield Planning Commission's October 12 meeting. The city published its meeting-results notice on October 13.

For nearby residents, zoning decisions can be important because they establish the framework for how land may eventually be developed. Changes in zoning can affect permitted uses, lot configurations and the character of surrounding neighborhoods.

However, a rezoning application is not the same as an approved development plan. The number of potential homes, final site layout and construction schedule should not be assumed from the zoning request alone.

Residents interested in the proposal can follow case P.Z. 06-2026 through Chesterfield's official planning records and meeting materials.

As Chesterfield continues to evolve, proposals like Pacland Crest offer another opportunity for residents to understand how future development may take shape in their community.

Keeping students safe takes more than one school, one department or one emergency plan. It takes an entire community working together.

That's the approach Rockwood School District emphasized during its annual Crisis Planning Workshop, held October 2 at the district's Administrative Annex in Eureka.

More than 80 school administrators, staff members, parents, Board of Education members, safety officers and emergency-response representatives participated.

Police departments from Chesterfield, Ballwin, Ellisville, Eureka and St. Louis County were represented, along with several local fire protection districts and Central County Emergency 911 dispatch.

Participants worked through hypothetical emergency situations, including an intruder alert and an evacuation prompted by a gas leak. They broke into smaller groups to discuss how schools and emergency responders would coordinate during these situations, then shared their findings with the larger group.

The workshop focused on communication, preparedness and building relationships before an emergency occurs.

For Chesterfield families whose children attend Rockwood schools, the gathering offers a look at the planning that happens outside the classroom.

The district says it will continue working with law enforcement, firefighters and emergency personnel to refine its safety procedures.

The goal is simple: better coordination today can help schools respond more effectively when it matters most.

Have old electronics, stacks of documents or leftover latex paint sitting around your house?

Chesterfield residents will have an opportunity to dispose of several hard-to-handle items at the city's upcoming Recycle Day.

The Chesterfield Citizens Environmental Advisory Committee is organizing the event for Saturday, October 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Chesterfield Central Park.

The event will offer paper shredding, electronics recycling and latex-paint recycling, along with several environmentally focused giveaways.

Residents may bring up to five paper boxes for shredding per vehicle. Published recycling charges include $10 for a flat-screen television or monitor, $30 for a CRT television or monitor, and $1 per pound for latex paint.

But the day isn't only about getting rid of unwanted items.

Organizers also plan to distribute free native trees provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation, native wildflower plants, wildflower seeds and compost while supplies last.

Residents hoping to take home compost should bring their own bags or containers. Compost distribution is limited to three yard-waste bags or containers per family, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event is supported in part by a grant from the St. Louis County Department of Public Health using county landfill surcharge funds.

For homeowners preparing for winter, Recycle Day offers a convenient way to clean out the garage, reduce waste and bring something green back home.

Event details: Saturday, October 24 | 9–11 a.m. | Chesterfield Central Park.
