Horse owners looking for a new way to explore the outdoors can saddle up this fall with St. Louis County Parks and Recreation’s guided trail rides.
Participants bring their own horses and ride alongside the Park Ranger Mounted Patrol, exploring scenic trails and areas of the county parks that offer some unique experiences from horseback.
The season begins with the Fort Bellefontaine History Trail Ride on October 6 from 10 AM–12:30 PM. A park historian will join riders and share stories about the area dating back to Lewis and Clark’s visit and beyond. The $15 registration includes lunch and bottled water.
Additional rides will explore Lone Elk and Castlewood on October 21 and November 5, 14 and 17 from 10 AM–2 PM. Riders will begin at the White Tail Shelter in Lone Elk Park, travel the Castlewood Loop Trail, stop for lunch and then get a rare opportunity to ride the White Bison Trail. Lunch and drinks are included, although participants are encouraged to bring extra snacks and water. 🦬🍁
All rides are $15, and advance registration is required. Double riding is not permitted.
