Have a new or soon-to-be driver in the house? The Chesterfield Police Department is inviting local families to attend First Impact: Safe Driving 101 for Parents & Teens, a free program designed to help young drivers start their journey behind the wheel safely and confidently.

The program will cover Missouriโ€™s Graduated Driver License rules, teen driving restrictions and practical safety tips that parents and teens can use as new drivers gain experience on the road.

Parents and teens are encouraged to attend together, making this a great opportunity to learn the rules, talk about safe driving expectations and build confidence before hitting the road.

Chesterfield voters will see two related propositions concerning the future of the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center on the November 3 ballot. According to information published by the City of Chesterfield, the existing Aquatic Center is scheduled to close after the 2026 season, and Props. A and Q address separate parts of a proposed replacement plan.

Proposition A addresses construction. If approved, it would authorize the City to issue $34.5 million in bonds to build a new Aquatic Center at Central Park on the site of the current facility. The proposed center includes an eight-lane lap pool and diving well, recreation pool, splash pad, two water slides, lazy river, updated changing facilities, shaded seating and a year-round community room. Prop. A requires four-sevenths approval to pass.

Proposition Q addresses how those bonds would be repaid. If approved, Chesterfieldโ€™s existing local sales tax rate would also apply to purchases from out-of-state sellers that currently do not charge the local sales tax, with that revenue used to repay the Prop. A bonds. Prop. Q requires a simple majority to pass.

Both questions will appear on the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 ballot. The City describes them as โ€œOne Plan. Two Votes,โ€ with each proposition addressing a different component of the proposal.

A Rockwood School District educator is preparing to take her learning global! Rachel Johnson, a music teacher at the Rockwood Center for Creative Learning, has been named a 2026-2027 NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellow.

Johnson is one of two Missouri educators selected for the fellowship and will join a cohort of approximately 50 teachers from across the country for a yearlong professional learning experience. The program focuses on helping educators prepare and empower students to become engaged global citizens.

The fellowship will culminate in a 10-day field study in Peru next summer, giving participants an opportunity to expand their global perspectives and bring new ideas and experiences back to their schools and students. ๐ŸŒŽ

Congratulations to Rachel Johnson on representing Rockwood and Missouri through this national learning opportunity! ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ“šโœจ
