Training is an ongoing priority for the Chesterfield Police Department, and this week four officers participated in an Intermediate Carbine Training Course hosted by Intrepid Defense at the department's firearms range alongside officers from other law enforcement agencies.

As law enforcement tactics continue to evolve, officers regularly receive advanced instruction from experienced trainers across the country, learning current techniques and real-world strategies to better prepare for critical situations.

While the department hopes these skills are never needed in the field, continued training helps ensure officers are ready to respond safely and effectively when the community needs them most. Investing in professional development remains an important commitment to both officer preparedness and public safety.

More than 40 students from Rockwood School District recently took part in the prestigious Missouri Boys State and Missouri Girls State programs, spending a week immersed in leadership, citizenship and the democratic process.

Representing all four Rockwood high schools, 45 students participated in this year's programs, where they built and operated a mock state government while learning firsthand about public service, elections and civic responsibility.

Rockwood students earned impressive honors during the week, with 18 students elected to city or county offices. Marquette High School's Rithika Pendurthi was elected State Treasurer, while fellow Marquette student Mithra Menon was selected as her party's candidate for Lieutenant Governor.

The annual programs give students valuable experience in leadership, teamwork and government while encouraging active participation in their communities.

Monarch Fire Protection District has launched a new Prehospital Blood Program, allowing paramedics to begin blood transfusions before patients arrive at the hospital. Blood products are now carried in the district's EMS Captain vehicle, giving first responders another critical tool during life-threatening emergencies.

The program is designed to help patients experiencing severe blood loss from traumatic injuries, childbirth complications and other medical emergencies where every second counts. Unlike traditional IV fluids, blood transfusions replace the blood patients are actually losing, significantly improving their chances of survival.

The initiative was made possible through a partnership with ImpactLife, along with months of planning, specialized training and the development of new medical protocols in collaboration with the district's medical director.

By bringing blood transfusions directly to emergency scenes, Monarch Fire Protection District is making a significant investment in faster, more advanced emergency care for the community.
