Extreme Heat Watch Issued for St. Louis Area Through Friday ☀️🥵💧

An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued for the St. Louis area as a prolonged stretch of dangerous heat moves into the region. ☀️🥵
The National Weather Service says the watch will be in effect Monday afternoon through Friday evening for St. Louis County, St. Louis City, and St. Charles County, along with portions of southwestern Illinois. Heat index values could reach 102 to 108 degrees, with overnight and morning temperatures only falling into the mid-70s to around 80.
The extended duration of the heat is a major concern, with the National Weather Service warning that heat-related illnesses become significantly more likely during extreme heat and high humidity. Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces, avoid prolonged time in the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
Keep an eye on updated forecasts and warnings as conditions develop throughout the week. ☀️💧
